Tianjin is one of the largest cities in China sited towards its northern coast, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The city is teeming with many impressive landmarks such as the Tianjin Museum and the Tianjin Shijizhong.

Tianjin Museum houses a wonderful collection of cultural and historical artefacts within a stunning building that shaped like a swan with extended wings. The Century Clock or Tianjin Shijizhong measures almost 40 metres in height and is embellished with relief carvings of the 12 symbols of the Chinese zodiac in bronze.

The famous Haihe River flows through the city of Tianjin flanking striking backdrops including lush parks, cultural hotspots, amusement parks, and the picturesque waterfront of Tianjin. This river is a combination of five big rivers namely Yongding River, Ziya River, Daqing River, Northern Canal and Southern Canal.

Haihe River, formerly called as Baihe River, has an extensive catchment area spanning over 300,000 square kilometres, and the river’s total length counts over 1000 kilometres. The river straddles along 70 kilometres across Tianjin City and splits into 300 tributaries before meeting the Pacific Ocean. Both Tianjin and Beijing cities are nestled in the Haihe River’s basin, forming a long stretch of waterfront splendid for cruising.

Haihe River was a crucial trading hub since 18 centuries ago, and presently has become a great leisure destination for sightseeing and cultural expeditions. It straddles several Tianjin tourist attractions such as Fountain Amusement Park, Haihe Park, Cultural Square and other significant landmarks.

Founded in 1985, the Fountain Amusement Park alongside Haihe River spans over 30 acres and features a playground furnished with an exciting range of thematic rides. There is also a vivid fountain in the heart of the park. What’s more the park hosts luxury cruises and speed boats to capture the breathtaking scenery of Tianjin along the banks of Haihe River. The night cruises are just as wonderful as you can absorb the view of its waterfront bathed in vibrant lights.

The Haihe Park is another great attraction in Tianjin. Here you can enjoy a relaxed day out surrounded by lush lawns, gardens speckled with bronze sculptures, and beautiful blossomed trees. The Haihe Cultural Square will pique the interest of all culture enthusiasts. Nestled near the Culture Street, this square boasts of great pillars adorned with exquisite relief carvings. It also paints a stunning sight when illumined at night.

The Haihe River also nestles some of the historically and culturally significant landmarks. They include the lofty Wanghailou Church and one of the oldest railway stations in China, the Laolongtou Railway Station.
